What kind of weight lifting gloves should I use?

I've been lifting weights for a while now, but I'm making these tough calluses my wife does not like. Moreover, they sometimes my hands before making my arms. It would weightlifting gloves help? Besides, I do not look like a Meathead. Remember I have read somewhere on these gloves that only fits inside of your hands - which are more like leather straps that go inside of his knuckles.
