Television can be a great time waster. If you currently watch TV, you may be losing much time. On average, Americans watch 4 hours of TV day. That is equivalent to 1,460 hours per year, 36.5 weeks of work, about 9 months of work. This means that each year the average American loses 9 months television work.

If you stopped watching TV today, you can get more done. Imagine having an additional 9 months of work. You could use their television time to learn a new language. or learn a new skill. If you want to master a martial art, 9 months of additional work could increase much progress.

If you feel that you have enough time in your day to do everything, try to stop watching TV. At first it might seem little realistic to stop watching TV. I used to watch TV every night. The idea of not watching TV it was unimaginable. I thought it was impossible to survive no TV.

But when she finally did, proved to be very easy.

In fact, my mother was addicted to the TV, watching 3 or 4 hours of television a night. Then, finally took the leap and got rid of cable television. She got rid of it 8 months ago, and certainly well survive without TV. (All she sees now is the stock channel.) It has also withdrawn, but she can still find things to fill their time without television.

Interestingly, she made the transition very easily. I did not notice any "withdrawal."

When you stop watching television, you not only save time but will save money. You no longer have to pay for cable (or satellite TV).

To stop watching TV, you have to discipline and establish a new habit not watch television. For the next 21 days, do not force yourself to watch any television. If you end up watching TV in one day, you will have to start at 21 days again from scratch. The 21 day period can be difficult on some days, but you have to stick through it.

By the end of 21 days, you will be easier to continue not watching TV. It takes about 3 weeks to form a new habit. So to then have a new habit of not seeing television. And you can enjoy the extra time we have.
