Can I convert my MGBGT chrome bumper rubber without lowering the suspension at the same time?

I have a rubber bumper MGBGT'm thinking of converting in chromium as were orininally. There is no problem in doing the work or get the materials because they are readily available but is not cheap to do and wondering if it can be done in stages, ie chrome bumper first and then lower the suspension at a later date? Also, if I do the front bumper the car is "evil" and to drive safely?

When GM was to rubber-bumper design of the ride height was raised in order to comply with bumper height regulations. You can convert your car to chrome bumpers, while maintaining the stock of rubber bumper ride height, this does not problem. The benefit is, of course, mostly cosmetic - the cleaner look of the chrome bumper. Take the ride height to levels associated with the previous chrome bumper cars is a big task - it requires changes against cross for example - but it gives both a visual and performance improvement. I guess I do first place - bumper or suspension depends on your goals and budget. Personally, if I prefer to be in search of a decent car chrome bumper, so would not have to worry about all the mods.
