Rate Measure

It is common practice for athletes to take their heart rate after a workout. If you run a track interval or performing an exercise routine aerobics, this method is often used to control the intensity of exercise.
If you are part of an exercise group, common procedure is to wait until everyone has located their pulse (often 15 seconds or less) and then to within six, 10 or 15 seconds while all the accounts of their own heartbeats. A is then multiplied by the number required (10, 6 and 4, respectively) to reach a late-value per minute.
However, research has shown that this procedure underestimates the heart rate for the time elapsed after the cessation of exercise. Indeed, low heart rate very quickly after the end of the year. This is particularly true for trained athletes.
MANUAL PULSE measurement study
A study by the University of Texas Austin investigated rate manual measurement methods by comparing heart real heart rates measured by an ECG. The subjects performed sessions exercise at 70% or 85% of your maximum heart rate. Wait 15 seconds after the end of the session, then counting your pulse for 15 seconds and is multiplied by four to get your beats per minute count.
At the same time, an ECG measures your heart rate made at three different times: during the in the last 10 seconds of exercise, in the first 15 seconds after exercise, then 15 seconds after that.
The manual measurements and results ECG were compared.
RESULTS
The study revealed several things:
1. Both the ECG and manual measurements - if taken after the year ended - Underestimated the heart rate reached during the final 10 seconds of the workout.
2. Even the ECG taken immediately after exercise was heart rate that was 7.9 beats per minute less than the rate during exercise. This is because the heart rate drops dramatically once the exercise ends - Especially for trained athletes.
3. The longer the wait before taking the pulse, the least accurate measurement.
4. Manual of measuring pulse rate were fairly accurate, although the radial (wrist) the method is less accurate heart rates above the neck cartotid () method. The radial method produced results that were too low by about 10 beats per minute.
CONCLUSIONS
1. The best way to measure heart rate of exercise is measured during exercise. Using a heart rate monitor is the best.
2. You can measure manually, after exercise, as long as add a correction factor (see below). Measurement in the carotid pulse is generally more accurate, provided they do not press too, which can stimulate carotid sinus reflex and decrease heart rate.
3. The sooner you can take the measurement will be more accurate.
4. A six seconds or 10-second measurement period will probably be more accurate than a period of 15 seconds because they give less time to recover heart.
CORRECTION FACTOR Counting rates after EXERCISE PULSE
By measuring heart rate after exercise, either manually or with a rate monitor rate:
1. Add 10 beats per minute if measured in 10 seconds.
2. Add 20 beats per minute if measured after 15 seconds.
These are the numbers of stage, but you can not expect the field measurements to be exact. To obtain a reading practice on stress levels, it is best to combine estimates of heart rate with their own comments on perceived exertion.

Exchange Rate Modelling
$219 Are foreign exchange markets efficient? Are fundamentals important for predicting exchange rate movements? What is the signal-to-ratio of high frequency exchange rate changes? Is it possible to define a measure of the equilibrium exchange rate that is useful from an assessment perspective? The book is a selective survey of current thinking on key topics in exchange rate economics, supplemented throughout by new empirical evidence. The focus is on the use of advanced econometric tools to find answers to these and other questions which are important to practitioners, policy-makers and academic economists. In addition, the book addresses more technical econometric considerations such as the importance of the choice between single-equation and system-wide approaches to modelling the exchange rate, and the reduced form versus structural equation problems. Readers will gain both a comprehensive overview of the way macroeconomists approach exchange rate modelling, and an understanding of how advanced techniques can help them explain and predict the behavior of this crucial economic variable. |

Value for Rate-Making

Excerpt from book: CHAPTER II DEFINITIONS Explanatory.?Because of the present confused use of words and phrases in connection with rate-making and valuation, some brief definition of the terms used by the author is necessary. In too many instances the English language uses the same word for different meanings. In valuation work the call for words to define new meanings, or confused and indefinite ideas as to what is intended, has resulted in the use of the same word to mean different things. Value.?Academically the word value relates to barter and exchange. One of the principal causes of demand?there are several?is usefulness or utility; consequently value may properly be used to measure utility. In valuation work, as a rule, loss of utility results in loss of value; maximum utility determines maximum value. The ratio of existing to possible utility, measures by the same ratio, when applied to cost as used in its largest sense, the existing value, in dollars, of the commodity or service. If the term related exclusively to barter and sale, only second-hand or scrap values would be considered, which is not the basis on which any appraisal has been or is being made for determining fair values of the used and useful property belonging to an operating organization. Physical or Structural Value.?As the term indicates, physical value relates to material things or substances, the property which can be seen and felt, It includes, primarily, those things which are visible and tangible, capable of being inventoried, but secondarily, certain non-physical charges which are an inseparable part of the cost of construction but which do not appear in the inventory of the completed property. These secondary costs, which are usually included as a part of the physical property, either dire... |
